It's over again!

J snoozes after his eighth breakfast
Zebra in the zoo try to think of words beginning with Z
And suddenly they were all gone - back to Denmark.
Among my birthday and Christmas gifts, for which a thousand thanks to all who sent them:
A fantastic book of MY and J's poems - from J - I don't know how she did it.
Striped socks from B, E, T and KP
a wonderful musical box from them too which plays punched paper music and you can compose your own music,
Ski lessons for me from W, MK and J
a book about surviving worst case scenarios from them too and a wonderful lunch in Denver before the less-wonderful zoo.
Cookies from Denmark, a watch from M
Thank you all again for all the cards gifts and good wishes, especially the visit from W, MK and J.

A Golden Opportunity

First stop in the city of Golden Colorado the Buffalo Rose Saloon - where W, w and J had their first chance to eat Rocky Mountain Oysters (fried bull's testicles) J declined but W and w declared, unenthusiastically "they taste like chicken" M and MK had various versions of buffalo and burger. This was a real wild-west type bar with locals permanently installed and looking as if we were the first unknown visitors for 100 years. One man did buy a beer for everyone in the entire place though and we seemed to be the only ones who thanked him.

Then daddy (w) went down a big steep slide This bicycle was frozen solid!

Boulder in the snow

Click the picture to see the man up Christmas Tree Drive with the snow blower!

Boulder, which prides itself in it's appearance during spring and summer, with well choreographed floral displays and picks up each leaf as it falls in autumn.

Just looks at the snow, slides around it, wades through the slush and slides on parking lot glaciers. Not a good place for pushing strollers (push chairs to the Brits)
Thank God for the roof over the pool!

Christmas Tree Drive

little William wanted pictures of Christmas Tree drive to decide which baby carriage to bring!
Four wheel drive I would say - no saying how soon it will melt but more predicted the day you guys arrive.

You want snow pictures?

we got snow pictures, we got real reindeer too!

Just like last year

The weather gets up early to apologise for all the mess it has made and starts it's slow cleanup process.
Sunrise over the Flatirons around 6.50 am before my swim.
With highs around zero C today there won't be much thawing going on.
Some ski resorts are reporting 5 feet - 1.75 metres of new snow MK and W will be pleased to hear since they are arriving on Friday

How Deep is the ---

About a foot and it is minus 10 C so winter has finally arrived.
Buddha says "sorry if the serene look appears slightly pissed off but how would you like to be up to your neck in it"?
Good news for the skiers - now I have to go shovel it!
Does anybody read this any more?

Sticking Slight Sprinkles

Buddha gets her (actually not supposed to be a woman or a man) first winter hat.
Just a couple of inches here, 15 inches in Eldora and three feet in the mountains that's 900 mm W and K! and getting deeper for you. I am off to buy a sled for me and J!

Now is the Winter of our

BlogThe temperature drops, the heart rate slows and breathing becomes shallow. The frequency of blogs also lowers.
The strange, ugly, garden shed becomes visible. Rumored to have been used to grow cannabis in the 60's its triangulated features, thankfully, disappear in the summer.
This time last year I had been shovelling snow for two months and this year, as you can see, barely any.
This is the lull between little William's ski reconnaissance trip and the big family Christmas trip when W, K and J are coming. Will it snow? There is a foot of new snow at the big ski resorts and a few inches of new snow up the road at Eldora.
