Poem for the Week

Go down to Kew in lilac-time, in lilac-time, in lilac-time
Go down to Kew in lilac-time (it isn't far from London!)
And you shall wander hand in hand with love in summer's wonderland
Go down to Kew in lilac-time (it isn't far from London!)

From 'The Barrel-Organ' by Alfred Noyes (1880-1958)

For those who don't know - Kew Gardens are in London - with plants collected over hundreds of years from all over the world.
So There!

Comments:
Heard of Kew Gardens. There's a great BBC detective series over here I like to watch, "Rosemary and Thyme" and they show some of UK's many gardens.

Yeah, strawberry & rhubarb, good combination. I make little leaves on my pies sometimes too, and then glaze them with egg white.

There's some lilacs over here. I like the ones with the Bhudda pic, but I thot lilac's were, well, lilac not purple.

Strawberry is too sweet when cooked and I prefer rhubard alone in a pie or even better in crumble with too much custard.

Rosemary and Thyme is like Gill and Jen crossed with low quality Morse and Mrs Marple!

Strangley enough, G & J spent the w/e together & decided that we could set ourselves up as a "Rosemary & Thyme" in our dotage. (a considerable time to go yet!)
Also, I ordered the compendium of MISS Marple (Joan Hickson, of course) from HMV in Coney St, in readiness for my retirement.
I plan to watch one each week, with friends, over afternoon tea.
G says that the sign of a successful retirement will be that I haven't watched any of them.
What's with the "low quality"?
We have white, lilac & snowball(guess) lilac.
Q for the day - What tree did Buddha sit under? (not lilac!)
rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb!

As a matter of fact "Rosemary and Thyme" starts on Danish television tonight and after the reviews done here it sounds just like my thing, sorry William!
We have mini lilacs in our garden, mini means that hopefully they won't take over the whole garden.
Our rhubarb isn't big enough to harvest from yet - unfortunately.
The compendium of Miss Marple, excellent - James Bond go home, I would come for afternoon tea every day if we lived a bit closer.

Tim's poem for the week;

Dr Tim went to Gloucester in a shower of rain
He stepped in a puddle right up to his middle
And didn't go there again

Tim thinks this is hilarious!
