They do eat birds eggs, which is only one step removed.
A squirrel took the eggs from a partridge nest in the garden a couple or so years ago.
I know of a number of birds that will eat squirrels!
I eat birds & eggs, but not rodents.
Pest operatives will catch pesky squirrels & take them away.

They apparently will eat eggs out of nests when they are hungry, but I have seen no mention of them eating birds. That fact that it is only in desperate times that they eat eggs, coupled with their fat little faces suggests that these ones get enough bird seed not to need any supplementary eggs.
